Inverting the Traditional Employee Communication Model: How ESFM Reached an Unreachable Workforce
Ineffective communications are costing FM companies more than just safety and productivity issues, they’re a direct cause of turnover (and 51% of FM workers currently want to quit).
ESFM President David Hogland and Senior Director of Marketing Andrea Rossitter will hit the stage at IFMA World Workplace on Wednesday, Sept. 28, to discuss the incredible impact mobile-first communications have had on their business, including continuous improvement in employee retention and engagement metrics.
Nudge’s Vice President of Business Development & Partnerships Kyle Arnold will lead a “fireside chat” to uncover the highlights of the platform that have proven effective for ESFM.
As the first IFM (Integrated Facilities Management) company to leverage the Nudge technology for front-line communications, ESFM worked closely with their Nudge partner to adopt the app’s capabilities for the FM space.
The process was about more than adopting a mobile-first solution: ESFM committed to learning what workers felt about their leaders’ communication strategy. ESFM acknowledged the challenges they were facing — including limited daily computer use and email access, disruption due to high priority work requests and feeling isolated from their company peers — and sought to understand what frontline employees need to know to do their job better and safer. By partnering with Nudge, ESFM was able to digitize all the great work employees do daily and to efficiently equip them with the knowledge and tools necessary to execute on their client’s highest priorities.
Ultimately, these efforts paid off. The business outcomes resulting from the communications program earned ESFM the George Graves Award for Facility Management Achievement from IFMA in 2020.
Join us Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 3:45 PM in Education Arena 1, Booth 1152 in the Expo to learn about this successful approach and how it improved metrics across safety, turnover and employee engagement.
